The best Russia`s sommelier and restaurateur in the past, nowadays – founder of the one and only biodynamic household in Russia.

UPPA Winery establishment was founded in 2008 by Pavel Shvets. Wine maker was born and grew up in Sevastopol, was studying in Saint Petersburg and Moscow. Pavel started his labor activity in 1996 as a sommelier and had become one of the first people in Russia to cope with this profession. In year 2000, he was obtained the best sommelier of the country. Having come back from the capital, Pavel planted his first vineyard in home Sevastopol.

Pavel Shvets founded wine farm near Sevastopol. The first vineyard had been planted in 2008, first wine had been taken in 2013.

UPPA is an old title of Rodnoye village where our household is situated.

UPPA Winery is a team of likeminded people, which creates biodynamic wine. Right now we have 12,5 hectares of vinery and we produce 60 thousand bottles per year.

We cultivate grape by biodynamic principles. Our household is a single ecosystem where wine, people, flora and fauna forms had become a single whole in the endeavor to stability and harmony. Where susceptibility to rhythms and impulses is gently kept.

Wine is created at vineyard and chemical composition of grape is the most important partial in wine`s quality. That`s why UPPA winery wines possess crystal clear terroir, energy and force.

Cler Polati
Cler Nummulite

UPPA Winery vineyards are two stiff slopes with genuinely unique terroir, each of them gives special features for wines produced. In household, there are 12 grape varieties!

Cler Nummulite – slope has the name of ancient sea organisms, shells of which is possible to find between vines. Once this slope was and ocean bottom.

Cler Polati – this slope views South-West and warms up by first morning sunbeams. Local people called it the same way, Polati, like an upper hot layer of stove.

Full rejection of irrigation stimulates root system of our vines long to the maximum depth to mother rock. As a result, we get mineral, thin and multifaceted wines.
